-
- This SHOWS you don't know what's going on. A number of people, including
- the *President*, said that the section that would criminalize discussion of
- abortion is probably unconstitutional and being considered for revokation.
-
- What are they revoking if it didn't prohibit that, eh?
-
- : don't have to do anything at all to censor (they already have password

-
- Wrong. If a parent buys an internet account for a child then ANYTHING
- accessable to that account is accessable to the child. Therefore, the
- internet provider is held responsible.
-
- Usenet newsgroups are considered "publically" available and as such,
- minors have inherent access to them. Therefore, no obscene or indecent
- material may be posted.
-
- "Indecent" is one of the key words. Everything from the Bible to scripts
- of movies rated "PG" contain indecent material according to community
- standards somewhere in the country. (There are already cases where people
- have been extradited from one state to face charges of violating community
- standards in another state/city). alt.support.rape is one of the groups
- that will be criminalized, as will groups that discuss medical problems
- and issues. Illegal pornography was ALREADY illegal on the internet or
- off. This bill merely makes ANYTHING offensive to any community illegal.
- If you post anything that would get higher than a "G" rating in a movie,
- you could be liable in some part of the country, and you could face
- charges from many different cities and states. It all depends on whether
- someone wants to pursue you or not. Even making the KJV of the Bible the
- Bible can land you in prison.
-
- You need to go to http://www.eff.org/ and read up on this thing, because
- you're obviously unaware of the implications.
-
- : Doesn't sound that bad at all... Did I miss something????
-
- You missed a LOT. As I said, go to the above site and read. Limiting the
- free speech of every single person in the US because someone doesn't want
- to learn how to use Surf-Watch or parental control facilities made
- available by ISP's is not acceptable.
-
- This is a clear violation of the Bill of Rights, PERIOD.
